PRESIDENT'S NOTE

Sore muscles and happy memories

My forearms are still feeling the effects of our bowling night we held last weekend at Park Tavern! It was great to see everyone who came out on Saturday for some fun bowling, pizza, and drinks.

Summer is flying by, and it's hard to believe we're already planning our annual picnic. This event has always marked the end of summer for our community, but it feels like it's coming too soon this year. I hope to see many of you at the picnic to enjoy delicious Korean food, reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, play some games, and savor a lovely afternoon.

-David Moschkau, AKC President

WHAT'S NEW

We had an amazing bowling night with lots of strikes, gutterballs and everything in between. Thanks to everyone who made it out to Park Tavern!

Your Top Questions Answered: AKC FAQs

2024 has been an exciting year for AK Connection with a brand-new board and a full slate of monthly events that have helped us reconnect with our community. With this refresh, we’ve heard a couple common questions about our programming and how we operate -- check out the answers below. If you have any other questions about AKC, feel free to email us!

Who can come to AK Connection events?
In general, most of our events are for Korean adoptees of all ages and their loved ones (e.g., friends, partners, and family members, whether or not they are adoptees or Korean themselves). Sometimes, we will have events that are for certain age groups (e.g., 21+) or for Korean adoptees only and will be sure to call that out.

Does AK Connection have any employees?
No, we are a fully volunteer-run organization. The board is made up of fellow Korean adoptees who are passionate about connecting with and supporting our community.

Where does AK Connection get its funding?
We primarily rely on donations and also apply for non-profit grants to fund all of the events and programming we offer. Several years ago, we eliminated membership dues to be as inclusive as possible and are proud that most of our events are free or low cost to our community. If you’d like to financially support AK Connection, you can donate via our website or buy one of our t-shirts (coming soon!). Be sure to check if your employer will match any donations you make to non-profit organizations, if applicable.
